Fiona Jane Thom

Local World Cafe

Scheduled on:
Saturday 3:00 pm 5:00 pm

Fiona J. Thom is a Musselburgh based singer – songwriter. She told us:

I have been involved with bands over a 15 year period. Song-writing is my main passion I write for my band Ms Fi & the Lost Head Band and had the pleasure of collaborating with others on an experimental theatre/cabaret show in 2014.

I am a newbie to broadcasting. I visited Radio Saltire as a guest and through Madelaine Cave I saw that there was an opportunity for me to do a show. I have been lucky enough to visit various stations in the past; some run from a caravan – outside broadcast porta-cabins, to large stations such as Forth FM and Austria’s national radio station, although none were as welcoming as Radio Saltire!

I have mixed tastes which cover many genres of music, and I am looking forward to sharing my picks with you.

My show Local World Café plans to cover what is happening in the grassroots music, theatre and arts scene in Edinburgh and beyond. I hope to interview musicians and theatre makers and have some live performances in the studio. I plan to play music from local artists. I also intend to cover some social and community issues regarding health and education.
