Alex Mercer originally comes from Fife. He was born in Kirkcaldy and lived in Bowhill, Cardenden, on the same street as Rebus writer, Ian Rankin.
He got into the music business by running High School discos in the 80s. He enjoyed the work so much he started his own mobile disco in 1986 and it continues to keep him busy to date.
In 1989 Alex branched out and started presenting Hospital Radio at Lynebank Hospital in Dunfermline. He presented there for 3 years before moving through to East Lothian and settling in Tranent.
Other than music, Alex has a keen interest in Stock Car Racing. He’s followed the sport since 1979 and even raced a few seasons himself. No big prizes but he had a good time and says he would jump into the driving seat again if funds allowed!
